WATCH: 19th Amendment Recognition Week – Day 2

Tuesday, August 18

WATCH

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, a monumental day in history and of great significance for granting women the right to vote. While this was an important milestone for the suffrage movement, we recognize that it wasn’t perfect as it did not include women of color.

Understanding that 2020 has been an unprecedented year, we invite you to learn and reflect on the past while keeping an optimistic eye toward the future. We have 2 exciting events you can register for and watch from the comfort of your home! Join the Kansas City Public Library this evening at 6:30 pm CST for their virtual event, “Qualified Rights: Women’s Suffrage, Citizenship, and the 19th Amendment Reconsidered, which features University of Minnesota historian Sarah-Jane (Saje) Mathieu.
